Alaskan Salmon On There Spawning Beds

These sockeye salmon have just about reached the end of there journey. Making and maintaining there spawning beds. While jockeying for position when the moment to spawn arrives. These are just a few sockeye salmon, also known as Red salmon or "Reds" that have found there way into a small calm offshoot of a tributary steam and set up shop. They turn these brilliant colors before the last moment of glory and then after spawning begin a rapid decline and literally decay as they die. This is a look at why they swim upstream and the behavior once they get to there destination. The Males Morph into a toothy some what aggressive looking ........ Situation. These Salmon survived a long journey and gauntlet of obstacles. Seals, Fishermen, Poles and nets, Bears, Eagles. Perhaps boat props. And likely more.
