Randy Newberg, Hunter has done this southeast Alaska black bear hunt five times. He has made his share of mistakes in selecting a camp. He shares some ideas with you about how you can avoid some of these same mistakes.
When choosing your camp site, your are making the most important decision of your entire Alaska bear hunt. You are dependent upon what is within a boat ride from camp; bears, fresh water, weather protection, and hopefully less hunting pressure.
Think this through with a lot of detail. Once you pick your spot, you probably are there for the duration of your hunt.
