A WEEKEND IN HOMER, ALASKA | Halibut Fishing, the Homer Spit, and Camping in a Yurt

Homer, Alaska sits on the beautiful Kachemak Bay and is regarded as the Halibut Fishing Capital of Alaska. We spent a weekend here checking out what Homer has to offer. From tide-pooling on bishops beach, to the unique Homer spit and everything in-between. We even tried our hand at Halibut fishing. We went fishing in May which is on the early side for Halibut fishing. Because of this our Halibut were bit small by Alaska standards but they were still the biggest fish we had ever caught!

Homer is only a 4 hour drive from Anchorage and makes for a great weekend get away. If you vacationing in the southcentral part of Alaska you should definitely check out Homer and what it has to offer.
