Alaska Train Ride in Winter - Talkeetna to Hurricane Gulch

We took an Alaska train ride in winter, from Talkeetna to Hurricane Gulch. This winter train is unique in that the stops along the way are unscheduled. The small train is a flag stop train, which means it stops when it is flagged down by people along the way or by passengers who have requested a stop. In winter, most of the people stopping are going to their part time or fill time off-grid cabins. The only way to get to these cabins is by train. One of the long-time residents Shannon Cartwright flagged down our train. She has lived in the bush since 1972 and is an author and children's book illustrator.

Like a few others onboard, we road the train just to experience the beautiful scenery and 360 views at the Hurricane Gulch railroad bridge. Come along on the ride as we share a few of the things we saw and the views at Hurricane Gulch!
